It’s Been a Year
“Yeah, looking back it's damn sure been the best one.”
- Ashley Cook (Song: It’s Been a Year)
A year ago, today my book – Move or Die: A Game Plan from Stuck to Significance was released.
It’s been an amazing year! It actually has been an amazing 3 years.
The odyssey started when I first started to write the book. I was blessed to be supported by the best book editor in the world: Katie Rios. She “got me”. She knew where I was going with my story. When I was stuck, she knew how to move the ball forward. When I got out of character, she pulled me back on to the right path. The final 186-page book is so much better than the 600-page manuscript that I started with. I will never be able to tell Katie enough times how much I appreciate her guidance!
As the drop day for my book came nearer, I needed to find a vehicle to market and sell Move or Die. This is where Cecilia Roy joined the Move or Die family. Cecilia owns and is the creative genius behind Snowdrop Creative. She developed my webpage and taught me how to do all of my social media posts and content download. Because of her help I have sold over 300 copies of my book on my own, not counting the thousands of books and audio downloads that have been purchased on Amazon (where it became an Amazon Best Seller in six categories).
Because of Move or Die’s success I have been busy speaking around the country; passing on the Move or Die message of continual movement towards your optimal life.
As I motivational speaker I am different than most. I do not have ONE talk that I go around repeating to each group that I speak to, which is normal in the speaking profession. Each one of my talks is individually crafted to the needs of each group that I am speaking to. To date I have spoken on Training the Explosive Athlete, Building a Team Culture, Leadership Development from the Bottom Up, Being a Team Player and a dozen others.
Each talk takes the audience through the issues that they are confronting and the solutions, that I have personally witnessed work, in real time. Too many speakers only rehash what others have written or have told them. Each of my talk’s springs out of my vast life experiences in the developing of a successful organization. I have seen where the mistakes were made and where the secrets are hidden.
Would I do the whole book writing process again? I sure would. I had been writing a book for twenty-years before Move or Die came out. The book was I was writing was (is) entitled, “Training the Explosive Athlete”. Then I took a detour after reading a study about how movement, and our need to move is part of our genetic pattern. That if we did not continue to move forward, as a species, we would die.
That book has been put on the back burner because of the time and focus it took to write Move or Die, and to prepare for my speaking opportunities while doing all of my content (No AI or ChatGPT). I’m actually putting together a future book on the development of a championship culture in business and sports. It’s still in the outline phase, but the more I write and the closer I get.
Thank you for all of those who have supported me in this undertaking. Get ready for the next big push!
Have an amazing day!
